All
individuals and organisations aspire to be successful.
But success just doesn't come about by chance. At the heart of every success story lies a foundation of resilience.
Resilience is the capacity to withstand shocks and to spring back to normal state before any permanent injury sets in. It is the ability to survive by avoiding and, when necessary, by getting out of trouble fast enough.
Troubles are amongst the few guarantees in life. Everyone is assured a share of troubles; some more, but to those who are wise, lesser. The wise realise that there must be a foundation
of resilience before the seeds of success can be planted.
At Jacob Business Armour, we help organisations to build that foundation of resilience, through our comprehensive suite of business resilience solutions.
There is a reason JaBA exists!
Our world has changed, and is still changing. It is changing in all aspects in Nature, technology, commerce and way of life. The citizens of Earth have been forced sublimely to conform to lifes changing conditions.
With modern technology, automation and creative inventions, man's lifestyle has become more comfortable. Travel and Internet have shrunk the world much to our benefit.
But the increase in production and consumption of goods/services has brought much ill to Mother Earth. The release of carbon into the air and wastes on earth is detriment to man, animals and plants. This results in ecological ramifications, affecting businesses.
Competition has intensified. This forces companies to innovate and to react by producing cheaper, faster and better; thus changing business operations such as down-sizing, outsourcing and plant relocations.
The changes described above are all connected. The result: more and new risks are emerging and old risks are re-appearing. It is, as it were, mankind has been swept haplessly into a whirlpool of danger.
Companies are in dire need of a strategy to survive and remain viable.
We, at Jacob Business Armour, have strategies and solutions to help organisations internalise a resilience programme. For this reason, Jacob Business Armour (JaBA) was founded in 2007.
Jacob spent 31 years working for a major brewery group in the Asia Pacific region. During his tenure there, he built from scratch its Group procurement function, insurance master programme, enterprise risk management and crisis management. He also introduced several programmes such as Cost Control and Management that resulted in multi-million dollars savings.
Jacob is well-exposed to many key business disciplines and holds an MBA degree. He has hence conducted training workshops in over 10 countries to CEOs and senior management audiences and has been invited to present papers at seminars. Because he believes he has much to contribute to organisations operational resilience, Jacob decided to leave his senior management position to start his own consultancy firm Jacob Business Armour Pte Ltd ("JaBA").
Jacob architected the Total Business Resilience Management concept - a complete strategy to establish corporate robustness. This strategy focuses on building four composite defence walls (SOPs, ERM, Crisis Management and Insurance) to create a comprehensive system that results in business continuity protection; or BCM (business continuity management). Backed by software application and years of industry experiences, JaBA under takes turn-key projects or provides consultancy to companies to carry out BCM programmes.
Jacob works with his two colleagues (Dr Loy Wee Wang and Mr Charles Mah) who possess equally strong qualifications and experiences. Jacob also represents TAMP Systems, an established BCP consultancy in the USA offering web-based BCP software services and consultancy, in Asia.
In recognition of his work, Jacob was awarded the prestigious Risk Manager of the Year Award by the Asian Insurance Industry. Speaking on behalf of the judging panel that comprised 22 renowned insurance industry leaders, AIG, the sponsors of the Award, had this to say of Jacob:
"the judges were impressed by Jacob's real passion for risk and crisis managements and were certain that the Award would spur him to even greater achievement in the field. "
Jacob is a certified trainer of Media Training Worldwide (MTW), an international media training organization in Times Square, New York, USA. Jacob provides specialized training linking crisis management and crisis communications.

He has software that makes the task much easier. All of us who are in involved in the project are operational but his software was able to capture the essence of the critical business functions and issues we face.

We do have Powerful Solutions for Business Resilience.
Like physical health trainers who work with individuals, Jacob Business Armour specialises in making organisations fit and strong. We believe that no organisation or business can have true success or sustainability unless there is first a foundation of resilience. Our objective is to help build that foundation of resilience.
Our specialties:
This is our framework for Total Business Resilience Management - a concept developed by Jacob Business Armour.
Managing risks means dealing with all risks.
There are critical steps to take when implementing BCM:
There is more than just fulfilling the above steps required to survive crisis situations. These are: external dependencies, communications, and crisis management skills. It is like a defence system that requires structure and strategy to build.
The difference with BCM is this: BCM is an organisation-wide system by which to build the capability to ensure business continuity of known crisis situations.
Crisis Management System 4A is that capability internalised in people to respond to all critical emergency events, including those never anticipated occurring.
BCM is the working platform. Crisis Management is the driver using that platform to enable the organisation combat crisis situations. Crisis Management System is the ultimate level in business continuity.
Crisis Management System 4 A: Alert, Assemble, Assess and Action. These are the key phases in which the Crisis Management Team work together to develop a single coordinated response befitting the advent of the crisis situation at hand. Through our propriety software, the Crisis Management Team members are able to assemble action plans within a matter of 10 ~ 15 minutes to deal with the specific crisis at hand.
